You’re an achiever.

Then why are things so hard right now? You do not feel at the top of your game. You keep thinking, “I’ve been able to figure things out before. I can power through this; I just have to stay focused.”

You’re in the car again, but you worry that you’re going to be late. Your throat is tight. You have people counting on you.

That familiar heavy feeling is on your chest. You want to check your phone even though you know it will stress you out – plus, you’re driving.

Breathing is shallow – you have to remind yourself to take a breath.

You work hard.

It’s hard to shut down when you get home. You distract yourself with work – it feels like you have to stay plugged in and accessible to the phone. You feel so tense, torn between what you think you need to be doing and the people who want and need you present.

It’s exhausting to be ‘on’ all the time. At home – at work.

Your stomach feels tense when you get feedback; work or home, the default belief is that you’re under-performing. Your body never completely relaxes without alcohol or something else to tire you out. You’re continually looking for ways to ease your anxiety.

You often don’t sleep well.

“Your life is good…”

You keep hearing this from other people when you start to share what you’re feeling. You should feel grateful that you have so much going for you. You intellectually know you have good things going on, but you just can’t connect to the feeling that everything is ok. You feel ashamed that you can’t see the good stuff.

When you feel ashamed you push yourself harder. You rarely slow down to look at your life; because when you do, you feel like you’re going to lose control.

The anxiety has a voice that says, “You’ve got to stay on top of things, keep moving, don’t lose your edge, you’ll miss out if you slow down, you won’t get where you want to go.”

You don’t feel at-home in your body and sometimes feel disconnected from it altogether.

You’ll never think your way into peace.
Peace is not something you figure out.

My passion is supporting people who ‘should’ have peace, but don’t.

Let’s talk about finding your peace.

Call (206) 779-2340

Hi, I’m Laurel.

Are you ready for some challenging truths?

Peace never leaves us we leave it.

You don’t ‘fix’ yourself and then have peace.

You’ll never think your way into the peace you long for.

Peace is not something you ‘figure out’…

And, you’re used to figuring things out (until you can’t), fixing things (especially yourself and other people), reading all the books and doing all the seminars (so you can help yourself be ‘better’)… and peace remains elusive.

You’re not even quite sure what peace is. You’re disconnected from ‘it.’

The support I provide will help you reconnect with the peace that is the essence of who you are – a peace you might not fully believe in or trust – a peace that never leaves.

Peace that is here right now.

What people are saying

Shannon C

I had been in and out of therapy for over half my life, amounting to 18 years. Yet, I found myself still experiencing the exact same suffering as when I began therapy all those years ago. In the short 4 months that have passed since starting work with Laurel, I have already surpassed any progress that those previous 18 years had brought me.

Megan S

No matter how hard I tried to apply what I had learned in previous counseling I wasn’t seeing the life changes. Then I started with Laurel…The growth and changes in my anxiety, my feelings of self-worth, and confidence in who I am have been LIFE CHANGING. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am that my path led me to Laurel.
